Introducing the Opposing Team 2023

Meet the opposing team for The Great Debate 2023! These shrewd Women (and Men!) of Influence will be oppose the topic “that aging gracefully is overrated”.

Stacy Miller

Stacy is a partner at Gold Coast based commercial litigation and insolvency firm, Cronin Miller Litigation Lawyers. Since her admission in January 2003 she has practised exclusively in the areas of commercial litigation, insolvency, debt recovery and dispute resolution. Stacy is empathetic, but direct, in her approach to a client’s legal issue, acknowledging that having to meet with a litigation lawyer or insolvency specialist is not on anyone’s bucket list! She takes her professional relationships to the next level with a genuine interest and care for the wellbeing of her peers and colleagues in the industry.
When she is not at the office you will likely find her in complete “mum-mode”. Stacy has daughters who keep her busy with their netball and social commitments! She tries to balance lawyer duties, with mum duties with giving back to the community wherever she can. This has led to the development of quite a varied portfolio of roles beyond her legal pursuits, including sitting on the Board of Directors of Queenslanders with Disability Network for the past three and a half years, and with a view to spending more time with her girls (arguably a misguided view) being a netball coach and holding an executive position at the local netball association.
When Stacy does enjoy time to herself, cheese and champagne are her guilty pleasures.

Mathew Sinclair

After a career in human services spanning almost 20 years in front-line services and leadership roles, Mat has amassed a broad array of perspectives on life.  Working with, some would say, the most dangerous and then the most vulnerable people in society, Mat has always seen the positive in life and always finds a laugh.

A recent and dramatic career change saw him take a leap of faith and join his partner to help grow their entertainment company.  The duo is the driving force behind some of the region’s most revered stage shows of recent times like Mamma Mia, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Beautiful and now Billy Elliot the Musical.  While a vastly different world to human services, Mat would say producing musicals can also be dangerous and often leaves producers feeling vulnerable but is equally rewarding as helping people as he did for so many years.

Petrina Macpherson

Petrina is an experienced construction disputes specialist at MinterEllison with a particular skill in taking large and complex matters, involving technical engineering, commissioning and construction concepts and distilling the key issues in order to provide strategic and targeted advice to clients.

Petrina has a particular interest in legal technology and looking for innovative ways to deliver legal services for clients. Petrina enjoys working collaboratively with project teams and client legal teams to ensure that cost-effective and client focussed solutions are delivered.
